As a member of the male population I cringe when surveys, magazine articles, etc., remind me that when it comes to health well, I’ll probably die younger, suffer a heart attack, die from related cancers (especially prostate), crash my car, commit suicide and so on before my wife. No wonder she’s so meticulous at keeping the insurance up-to-date!
‘Martian’ lifestyles are definitely more uncertain than ‘Venusian’ ones. On the other hand, where all the research proves correct is in pointing out that men are less likely to seek medical help until the situation is nearly out of hand; we reluctantly head to the doctors, until our leg is falling off or whatever. Guys are however learning, realising that it's not effeminate to use moisturisers or take better care of their health. I confess to enjoying a good massage once a month to smooth away those stresses and cares and a few chaps I know admit that the surprise facials their partners organised for them were quite enjoyable moments. But we won't shout about it
Taking a leaf or two out of the girls' books isn't a bad idea after all.
The truth of the matter is, whatever gender we are there are recognised differences in the way our bodies work and our susceptibility to various illnesses. To that extent there are specific products, which may improve or support our particular conditions or enhance our bodies. |
